Chennai Airport Transfer: Which Car Should You Book for Your Pickup?
An airport pickup is a small trip with a big job. It is the first thing your guest, client or parent experiences after a long flight, and it sets the tone for everything that follows. Get it right and nobody thinks about it. Get it wrong — wrong car, driver circling for parking, a surprise on the bill — and it is the thing they remember.
The good news is that choosing well is not complicated. It comes down to three questions: who is arriving, how much luggage they have, and what impression you want to make. Here is how we walk customers through it at APJ CABS.
Start With Who Is Landing
A family of 4 to 6 with luggage
- An MPV beats a sedan every time
- Innova Crysta is the dependable default
- Hycross adds a quieter, softer ride
- Kia Carnival if you want more space
One executive or a client
- A sedan makes a clean, professional impression
- Toyota Camry is our flagship sedan
- Mercedes E-Class steps it up a level
- Rear legroom matters after a long flight
The Cars We Recommend, and What They Cost

The Everyday Pick: Innova Crysta
If you only remember one recommendation from this page, make it this one. The Crysta has room for people and bags, a boot that swallows more than you would expect, and a ride every Chennai driver knows inside out. It is the car we suggest when someone says “just send something comfortable.”
Want a softer, quieter cabin for a tired arrival? Step up to the Hycross. We compared the two in detail in our Crysta vs Hycross guide.
The Executive Pick: Toyota Camry
For one or two travellers, a sedan feels right. The Camry is a calm, dignified car with generous rear legroom, which is exactly what you want after a long-haul flight. It says “we planned this” without shouting about it.
If the person you are collecting is a senior leader or an important guest, the Mercedes E-Class is the next step. It costs about a third more than the Camry on the 8-hour package (₹12,000 versus ₹9,000), which is worth it when the impression is the point.
Five Things That Prevent Airport Hiccups
- Share the flight number. Flights land early and late. Giving us the flight details lets the pickup be planned around the actual arrival rather than the printed one.
- Count the bags honestly. Four people with four large suitcases is a different request from four people with cabin bags. Tell us, and we will suggest the right size.
- Remember waiting time. A local package covers set hours and kilometres. A long wait for a delayed flight can add extra-hour charges, so mention any buffer you expect.
- Plan for parking and toll. Airport parking and toll are not part of the base rate and are billed as per actuals.
- Send the pickup details to your guest. Driver name, car and number. It saves a confused phone call at the arrival gate.
A Quick Word on Drops
Airport drops are usually simpler: the car arrives at your door at the agreed time, you load up, and you go. The usual advice applies — leave earlier than you think you need to, especially during peak traffic hours. If you are travelling from a hotel or office in a busy part of the city, tell us your flight time and we will help you work back to a sensible pickup time.
Rule of thumb: family with luggage, choose the Crysta or Hycross. One or two executives, choose the Camry. VIP or important client, choose the Mercedes E-Class.
